SFS 6002 Updates
Background of the SFS 6002 Changes
The Electrical Safety Standard SFS 6002 is revised every five years. The standard is based on the European EN 50110-1 standard, which aims to harmonize electrical work practices across Europe.

Training Documentation Obligation
One of the most significant changes in the new SFS 6002 standard is the obligation to document training. Cad Sä Oy has been offering training services for 15 years, and we have always provided clients with records of trained personnel according to their needs.
Additionally, if an electrical safety card has been lost, we have been able to issue replacement card free of charge.
We maintain high training quality by monitoring customer feedback and responding quickly. In our SFS 6002 training, we use materials from Sähköinfo, and updated materials in accordance with the new standard should become available later this month.
In any case, all changes will be covered during the training, and our training already complies with the SFS 6002 standard published at the beginning of March.
Stricter Requirements for Work Equipment
For years, many have used a multimeter to verify the absence of voltage. However, under the new SFS 6002 standard, this is no longer allowed for confirming the absence of voltage. While a multimeter is still suitable for measurements, a dedicated and approved voltage testing device is now required for confirming de-energization.
There have been near-miss incidents on work sites where wires were connected incorrectly or the wrong area was tested. For this reason, a clearly defined testing method is now required to confirm the absence of voltage.
Changes in Workwear
The new standard no longer permits clothing compliant with EN 11612 for live working. This standard applies to hot work but does not meet the requirements for protection against arc flash. Therefore, its use in live electrical work is no longer acceptable under the new standard.
Terminology Review
The terminology used in the standard has been updated for consistency, and so-called “layman’s terms” have been removed. We will go through all these changes during the training, to which you are warmly welcome.
Why Choose Live Training?
Some of our clients have specifically requested live training, as they value interaction and the opportunity to clarify concepts and understand the reasoning behind them. This principle has guided our operations from the beginning.
We have also been successful in meeting this need through webinar-based training. Starting next fall, SFS 6002 training sessions will be held as webinars at least twice a month, including one session in English.
Otherwise, we favor live training courses, which you can learn more about on our website: www.cadsa.fi/koulutukset.
